Electric Vehicle Charging

We’re thrilled to announce that our Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points are up and running!

We have two type-2 universal chargers that can be used simultaneously; hopefully these should work for just about everyone’s EVs. They are tethered, so the cables are attached to the unit – no need to bring your own. Easy peasy!

We’ve installed them in our car park in order to make it even easier for our users to travel to the Community Centre sustainably; sitting alongside our bike racks and easy bus access, the EV points are ready and waiting for anyone who needs a charge!

We’re more than happy for local residents to make use of them, not just our direct users – we’re spotting more and more EVs in and around Dean Court and we’re ready and waiting to help keep you on the road!

The electricity is charged at 45p per kWh as standard, but we are, of course, offering a discount for local residents and customers – to charge your vehicle for a mere 40p per kWh, go to https://chargepoint.app.link/02SSdYkShwb. You’ll be asked to download the Charge Point app and create a login, then use the code localDCCA14 to get our discounted rate.

These are the latest chapter in our eco revamp (our solar panels are ticking away nicely, the LED lights are illuminating in more ways than one….), and we believe the first EV charging points open for public access in Cumnor Parish.  The chargers are powered by the aforementioned roof panels, sometimes directly, sometimes via our Tesla Powerwall battery that saves excess energy when it’s not needed and gives it back to us at night time. It’s a win-win for the environment and your pocket.
