It was never very likely that, with quantities of plaster arriving, the building was going to stay as squeaky-clean as Nick and Serge got it.
In fact, though, it’s looking pretty orderly, considering. Which just goes to reinforce my boring mantra that a tidy space is a happy / safe / efficient space. Although admittedly it has probably got a lot to do with the quality of the team working here as well.
In modern construction, with its awareness of eco-issues, there seems to be a specific board for every purpose, and every board seems to come with the option of its own in-built insulation. So as Bill cuts through the plasterboard he is measuring at present, he will also be cutting through its own layer of insulation.
There will also be a board in use called vapour board, which, as its name suggests, should help to deal with condensation – useful in kitchen areas, obviously, but also, Matthew tells me, in vaulted buildings, which seems to make sense to me.
